Les Arcs has been in fine form for his new connections this year but five furlongs under these conditions may be too much for him and a better bet looks to be the progressive Reverence, who is preferred to the reappearing Resplendent Glory. The last mentioned has only met defeat once in seven races, winning his last four starts; this evening's ground should not be of a problem to the Terry Mills-trained colt but lack of a recent run may be. Paul Cole's Eisteddfod should relish the underfoot conditions but is probably better over a furlong extra and of more interest may be Indian Maiden, who has conditions to suit but is not the most consistent of performers. Jeremy Noseda's Balmont struggled under penalties last season and could be of interest if fit enough for his return, while Orientor has ground conditions to suit but tends to find at least one too good. That is not a problem for Eric Alston's Reverence though and he is taken to regain the winning thread having run well in defeat in the Palace House Stakes last time.
