William Knight has high hopes that BLOODSWEATANDTEARS can prove to be better than a handicapper and he'll need to win this from a mark of 82 if he's to take up one of his entries in the Champagne, Royal Lodge or Dewhurst. He fluffed his lines in Native Khan's maiden on debut and wasn't all that impressive in winning from Titus Two at Yarmouth but the pair pulled nicely clear of the field and he's expected to improve for an easier surface. Jehanbux rates the one to beat having shown a good attitude to win here over a mile and he doesn't look overduly burdened for his handicap bow but he only had a length and a half in hand of Introvert when the pair clashed over course and distance in July so could have his work cut out conceding 4lbs to that rival. Orientalist should be involved but may have to settle for minor honours with Northern raider Las Verglas Star of more interest with this step up in trip expected to bring about improvement but he may need rain in order to show his best.
