Despite the lack of numbers this still looks reasonably competitive with both Electrique and Bowing having shown more than enough to suggest they can win their maidens. However, neither have looked anything out of the ordinary and a chance is taken with the newcomer Alrabab, who is out of a winning mare and is from the same family as the high-class miler Waajib. Marcus Tregoning's filly runs here in preference to three other engagements this week and it is interesting that he elects to take on the colts, rather than confine her to fillies events. Bowing should provide the biggest threat. There is no doubt he does have ability, but he probably isn't straightforward and has been a beaten favourite in three of his last four outings. Electrique is nowhere near as good as his brother, top-class miler Muhtathir, and Archmail looks the sort to do better when he goes handicapping. So this looks best left to Alrabab, who is the value to beat likely favourite Bowing.
