Nothing makes great appeal here, and the pin comes down on South O'The Border, with Art Modern, Vale de Lobo and Fort Churchill all likely to play a part in proceedings. South O'The Border does at least have a recent win to his credit, having opened his account for the season over nine furlongs on this course last month. In fact he has not been out of the frame in any of his last four visits here, and is clearly in good heart, having defied a career-high mark last time in battling to a head victory over Fabrian. He will not be bothered by the step back up to 10 furlongs and has as good a chance as any in an open contest. Art Modern failed to give of his best over hurdles last time and is back on the level again. The ex-Charlie Egerton inmate should by now have settled in at Gary Moore's yard and may be in the shake-up along with Vale de Lobo who will be more at home on this faster ground. Fort Churchill has topweight to overcome but has in general been in fair form and will not be inconvenienced by this drop back in trip. The market may provide clues as to the chances of Dove Cottage and William's Way, but we shall pin our hopes on South O'The Border.
