Spring Green makes it on to the short-list along with Brynfa Boy but AVERTOR gets the nod in the hope that the youngster can prove progressive enough to cope with some experienced rivals. He's been off since April and hasn't beaten a rival home in two starts but returns at a time when his trainer's horses are running well and the first foal of a sister to Avonbridge and Patavellian appears to have inherited plenty of his family's speed. Spring Green has run well enough in two starts this season to believe that she could have further improvement in her although it is worth noting that Steve Drowne jumps ship to partner the selection. Brynfa Boy should relish the hill which will bring his strong finishing run into play but he's failed to get to the leaders the last twice and that would be the concern again as he will need the gaps to appear at the right time. Rocker and Luminous Gold are considered whilst Zowington is well enough handicapped to feature if the cheekpieces have the desired effect but preference is for Avertor.
