It will be surprising if the 2010 winner goes on to achieve as much as the three most recent predecessors but that won't worry the connections of BURNING THREAD who's marginally preferred to Duchess Dora and Reignier. The highest rated runner is Red Avalanche but he lacks a run and may well turn out to need further this season whereas Duchess Dora is all about speed and unbeaten over course and distance. Reignier drops back in trip but could find the stiff finish at this trip ideal if he can keep tabs on the pacesetters but Tawaabb was readily outpaced on his reappearance and will need to leave that form behind if he's to reverse the form with Duchess Dora who finished a long way in front of him in third at York. Above Limits has to prove that he's trained on but there's no such concern on that score for Burning Thread who sprung a surprise at Beverley in a race that lost a little lustre with the fall of Mister Hughie. Nonetheless, it was a taking performance from the gelding whose dam was related to a high class sprinter and, now that he's picked up the thread, Burning Thread may be able to continue to scorch up the track.
