Not the best of maidens and one where Parliament Square can take control, with Red Sail and Maraakeb perhaps the ones to present the biggest challenges. The selection ran about as green as you would expect on debut back in April, being given plenty of time to get involved and then staying on late to finish a comfortably beaten third. Though the winner that day has not run since, the runner-up did come out and win next time and so the form looks solid enough and should be good enough in the context of this race. If he cannot reproduce that after such an absence, then Maraakeb might be good enough to take advantage. John Gosden's colt was thereabouts in a Newmarket maiden last November, but was hammered when stepped up to this trip on his only subsequent start, at Doncaster in June. Clearly he has a bit to prove now, but the yard's runners are going well enough at present and he can put up a good show. Of the remainder, Red Sail looks the pick. The James Fanshawe-trained filly is bred to get this trip and improved slightly last time when stepped up from a mile to nine furlongs. This extra furlong will be in her favour, and given that she will again have more idea about what is going on, she can make that experience count and finish in the money again. Our idea of the winner here though, is Parliament Square.
