Not quite as competitive as the big field might suggest and this can be fought out by Waterside and Serre Chevalier, with Goodenough Mover and Maren also likely to be involved, and we will plump for Waterside. Gary Moore's gelding was most impressive when trotting up in a Goodwood classified event over this trip last time out. A course and distance winner on fast ground, if he can reproduce that run of last time here then he should be good enough to land the prize. Serre Chevalier will be popular with punters and after successive wins over a mile it is easy to see why. However, the drop back in trip is not sure to suit him, although the stiff finish here will at least help bring his stamina more into play, but we will oppose him on this occasion. Goodenough Mover heads the weights here along with the selection and has earned that with some decent form at this trip, with wins at Chepstow and Newbury earlier in the year. However, he has been held just lately off this sort of mark and can be opposed today. Of the remainder, the unexposed Maren makes some appeal. A Warwick maiden winner last season, he has not been seen out for almost exactly a year, but if he turns up fit and ready to perform then he could be the one to give the selection most to do, but we are happy to stick with Waterside in this.
