To see the Derby and 2000 Guineas winners go head to head is a rare treat and on form there is very little to choose between them. MASAR (NAP) clearly preferred the Derby trip to the mile at Newmarket, and reversed the form of his Guineas defeat in emphatic style at Epsom. If he can recapture his former brilliance, Saxon Warrior can push the favourite close, but the Derby winner has had the smoother preparation and looks the better bet here. Roaring Lion has been beaten repeatedly by his two main market rivals and there is little evidence that he can reverse the form. Happily looks short of the required class, comments which also apply to Cliffs Of Moher, while Hawkbill has looked out of sorts so far this year. Forest Ranger has improved markedly this season and looks the pick of the older horses.
Cliffs Of Moher (IRE) 10-1 (9-1) Held up last, headway on outside over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, went never dangerous 3rd final 50 yards, 3rd of 5, 3 3/4l behind Crystal Ocean (9-1) at Ascot 1m 4f Grp 2 stks (1) gf in Jun.
Forest Ranger (IRE) 6-1 (9-1) Tracked leader, challenged 2f out, soon led, ridden clear inside final furlong, ran on well, won at Chester 1m 2f Grp 2 stks (1) gd in May beating War Decree (9-1) by 1 1/4l, 5 ran.
Hawkbill (USA) 11-1 (9-0) Tracked leader 2f, 2nd again on inside over 2f out until just inside final 2f, soon not quicken, no chance with 1st 2, kept on for 3rd, 3rd of 7, 10 1/4l behind Poet's Word (9-0) at Ascot 1m 2f Grp 1 stks (1) gf in Jun.
Raymond Tusk (IRE) 2-1jfav (9-8) Led, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on one pace, 2nd of 7, 3l behind Loxley (9-8) at Newmarket 1m 2f stks (4) gf in Jun.
Roaring Lion (USA) 6-1 (9-0) Held up towards rear of mid-division, headway chasing leaders over 2f out, edged left over 1f out, went 2nd over 1f out, no impression, lost 2nd close home, 3rd of 12, 2l behind Masar (9-0) at Epsom 1m 4f Grp 1 (1) gd in Jun.

Happily (IRE) (8-13) 4th of 13, 1/2l behind Laurens (8-13) at Chantilly 1m 2f Grp 1 stks gd in Jun.
Masar (IRE) 16-1 (9-0) Held up in mid-division and always travelling well, smooth headway on outside 3f out, led 2f out, ridden clear over 1f out, stayed on strongly, won at Epsom 1m 4f Grp 1 (1) gd in Jun beating Dee Ex Bee (9-0) by 1 1/2l, 12 ran.
