The fast ground will suit Joint Statement, who is in great heart and is taken to win his fifth race from six starts. The Barathea gelding's winning run came to a temporary halt at Acsot last time, where he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Athenian. A reproduction of his three length defeat of Hawkley at Goodwood last month would give him every chance here, though there is a slight doubt now about whether he is exposed. Chief rival could be Secret Garden. John Gosden's filly won with plenty in hand at Nottingham recently and with little mileage on the clock, can certainly improve for that confidence boost. Another interesting contender is Ashkelon, who lost his way a little after winning on debut at Salisbury last year, but came back to form on fast ground at Pontefract last time with a five length thrashing of Little Amin. Expect another good run. Perfect Storm and recent Newmarket second, Able Baker Charlie are others to consider.
