A tremendous handicap in which marginal preference is for JET AWAY with Mortbet, Con Artist and Senate considered his three main dangers. Henry Cecil's colt was given a nice introductory ride at Haydock on debut before winning at Lingfield last month when well-backed. He scored quite comfortably in the end in a messy race and with the winner scoring since this opening mark of 86 may prove lenient. Mortbet is another for whom guesswork is required when it comes to official ratings. He was well-supported on debut at Leicester and rewarded backers with a strong performance. The first-two were five lengths clear, and although the third and fourth have not franked the form since, the feeling is that he could be anything. Right Step ran an absolute cracker at Goodwood last week but his profile is not one of consistency, Con Artist bumped into a good one at Newbury and with the first, third and fourth home all running well since the form looks rock solid; a 3lb higher mark may not be enough to stop him running well. Senate is rated better than his handicap debut here when eased off behind Verdant. From a low draw he was given an aggressive ride and he had no more to give late on but better is expected today with that form working out well. His Doncaster maiden win came on soft ground so he might want a drop of rain however. Sharaayeen is the only other runner to make a modicum of appeal, however the fairly confident vote here goes to Jet Away.
