Hoh Mike is unbeaten here and has leading claims but this race has twice gone to the Classic generation in the last three years and Ancien Regime may be able to provide them with another victory. This is a step up in class for the selection but he has always been held in high regard and is improving with experience. He has shown a tendency to pull too hard in the past but there was a lot to like about his latest effort in a York handicap that has been won by Group-class horses in the past. Hoh Mike didn't really fire on his first two runs this season but he was only beaten a length and three quarters in the King's Stand and is clearly well suited by the stiff uphill finish here. Granted a fast pace and luck in running, he looks sure to go close. Wi Dud was second in last year's renewal but has plenty to prove on this season's evidence; he's been given a break and would have claims if returning at the top of his game. Intrepid Jack is drawn low and needs to pull out a little more as does Prime Defender but Peace Offering has gone well fresh in the past and is not without claims whilst Moorhouse Lad is entitled to come on for his reappearance. For the winner, though, we'll come back to Ancien Regime.
