Verdict

Phoenix Tower can eclipse his rivals and come home in front of Pipedreamer and Maraahel. This will be an interesting race tactically as both Campanologist and Multidimensional set out to make every yard in their respective races at Royal Ascot. The latter ran a blinder to only be caught close home by Macarthur over twelve furlongs and will surely have plenty of use made of him over this shorter trip. That should set the race up nicely for the selection who travels well and possesses an electric turn of foot. He proved his stamina beyond doubt when finishing four lengths behind Duke Of Marmalade and a short-head in front of Pipedreamer last month. He didn't really enjoy the run of the race there and faces nothing of the calibre of the winner. When O'Brien only fires one bullet at a target he has to be respected but Mount Nelson has a mountain to climb as he attempts to conclusively prove that he stays ten furlongs. Excuses can be made for his previous failures at this trip and he ran right up to his best last time but there will be no hiding place this afternoon and he should be opposed. Literato needs cut and has been off his game, Rob Roy is talented but hugely frustrating and Stotsfold has a bit to find. Campanologist is respected but did enjoy the run of the race last time and it may be worth a more speculative interest in Maraahel. He's just short of top class but this renewal is far from strong and the experienced campaigner is fully effective under these conditions. He may well reach the frame again but we'll take Phoenix Tower to scale these heights.
