This is possibly the trickiest race of the night to call, as you could make a case for most of the large field, but we'll side with EFISTORM ahead of Present Alchemy and Solemn. Conor Dore's gelding, his only runner on the card, has only gone up a pound for a more comfortable win than the half-length distance would suggest at Windsor in April. If he can repeat that performance, which was his seasonal debut, he could reward backers. The draw may work against Present Alchemy, having his first run since winning at Beverley in August. He likes to be up with the pace, if not setting it, and interesting wears a first time tongue strap. Solemn was an easy winner last time out at Yarmouth, and again doesn't have a great draw. Of more concern though may be the fact he's shot up 12 pounds in the weights since that victory last month. Others coming into the race in good form with a recent win to their name are top-weight Osiris Way, Noodles Blue Boy and Step It Up, who gains weight from all his rivals, is drawn in stall one and has won over course and distance. With a field of 17, there could be some each-way value to be had for four places, but to come out on top, our vote goes to Efistorm.
