Anak Pekan has an obvious chance at the weights judged by official BHB ratings but would probably prefer a softer surface and preference is for Cruzspiel, who is taken to confirm Queen Alexandra form with Cover Up. The last mentioned has had his problems and it was to his credit that Sir Michael Stoute's gelding finished as close as he did to Cruzspiel at the royal meeting but James Fanshawe's gelding is unexposed over staying trips and is fancied to come out on top again. The 2003 Gold Cup winner Mr Dinos looked a shadow of his former self in this year's renewal and of more interest may be Michael Bell's Shabernak, who has had just the two career starts over this trip and has already shown his liking for it. Big Moment and Midas Way are capable on their day but need to improve to trouble Cruzspiel, who is taken to follow up his York success.
