Brocklesby winner THE LAST LION (NAP) has been very unfortunate to come up against the classy Prince Of Lir in his last two starts and is unlikely to meet one of his quality here. Mark Johnston's colt chased him home in a tough conditions race at Beverley when conceding 7lb and again off levels on soft ground in the Norfolk Stakes at Ascot. Stormy Clouds, a winner at Salisbury in May, struggled to go the pace in the Queen Mary but stayed on at the finish and this stiff track can see her in the frame. Pretty Vacant ran a fine race in the Windsor Castle before a comfortable victory on Polytrack at Lingfield and there's more to come from him while the selection's stablemate Mailshot, who was fourth in that Beverley event, has since boosted the form with a victory at Kempton.
