Sharpsburg can overcome an absence to account for Accompanist and Darenjan, with Foreigner and Gravinsky likely to run well without being good enough. With Godolphin over their early-season blues, there could be another visit to the winner's enclosure pending as Sharpsburg is wheeled out to make his seasonal reappearance. The son of Giant's Causeway made a very promising debut for John Gosden at Newbury last October, getting within half-a-length of Mick Channon's Hazeymm, who has been mixing it at Group level this year. In the Newbury contest, the selection finished a place ahead of a Godolphin challenger, and the boys in blue must have been suitably impressed to snap him up afterwards. With solid form and plenty of scope, he looks one to follow. Darenjan was beaten fully 11-lengths when runner-up at Beverley last time, and it may well have been a two-and-a-half month absence that contributed to that defeat. There should be no excuses now though. Gravinsky lost plenty of ground at the start when eventually fifth on his Newbury introduction last autumn, so did well to finish as close as he did. He will come on for the run, as will Foreigner, whose dam is a half-sister to Revoque. Sharpsburg could well make up into a Listed performer at least though, and is very much the one to be on.
