In depth

Verdict

Difficult to escape the claims held by Party In The Park and he is selected ahead of Rough Rock and newcomers Hadaf and What Katie Did. The last named is a half-brother to several juvenile winners and, being by Invincible Sprit out of a speedy mare, this fellow is bred to be effective at this trip. The draw is in his favour and, as his yard has a near 50% record with their youngsters, a bold bid can be expected. Watch the market carefully where he is concerned. Marcus Tregoning is dual handed in the race, with Hadaf making a touch more appeal than Tavarat, who is respected but is bred to be come into his own over a longer trip. Even so, a sixth furlong would not go amiss for Hadaf on breeding and he may need more time. Brian Meehan has won this twice in the last ten years, so Rough Rock is following a tried and trusted path. The son of Rock Of Gibraltar will qualify for a handicap mark after this and would be an interesting contender in that area of racing. However, Party In The Park makes far more appeal for the present time and Richard Hannon's charge is fancied to take the next step up the ladder today. Hannon's charge came up against a potentially smart type at Newmarket 11 days ago and is taken to build on the experience today.
