Love Always is a course and distance winner so warrants respect however Hazelnut and Ravenna come here in top form and the narrow vote goes to Hazelnut. James Fanshawe's filly is one of two horses (Love Always being the other) who have to give weight away to the three-year-old's here however she made a very pleasing reappearance when winning even though she shaped as if the race would bring her on somewhat. She steps up two furlongs in trip today and shapes as if that will suit so with more improvement to come, she can make mincemeat of this mark of 64. Lindy Lou and Cushat Law both come here on the back of good runs so should certainly not be overlooked, however the most interesting contender appears to be Ravenna. Marcus Tregoning's filly comes here chasing a fifth win in a row and won with plenty in hand last time out so should be respected despite a hefty 13lb rise in the weights. Mercury Blue is unexposed and a mark of 67 may not prove to be beyond her, however she needs to step up on recent efforts and so she is passed over and we will return to Hazelnut as the nomination.
