Promising Lead has been given a break after being beaten by the ground at Newcastle and back on a decent surface she can take this Listed prize from stablemate Shorthand, with Barshiba interesting stepped up in trip and both Sudoor and Fann others to consider. The selection comes from the in-form Sir Michael Stoute yard and was expected to go much better at Newcastle, where she came to challenge but was then flat footed as the ground took its toll. She is bred to get this trip well and is worth another chance on this ground. Shorthand is another Stoute inmate and she was eased when beaten in the Ribblesdale. Her previous try at this trip in the Musidora was a decent effort in the context of this race and she can be thereabouts. Barshiba is top rated here by the official assessor and she has already won in this sphere. The step up to 10f should suit so she has to be taken seriously. Sudoor has twice finished a Listed runer up but has a bit to prove after her last run, while Fann has another stiffish test giving weight to the three-year-olds and it is one of those, Promising Lead, who gets our vote.
