This is a competitive apprentice handicap to open the card and the vote is given to Rondo, with Choreography and Mugeba also considered. The selection has plenty in his favour as he arrives here in good form as he was a good third behind Charles Parnell at Ayr last time. He is a course and distance winner and he goes particularly well for his young pilot. He ticks enough boxes to make him the percentage call. Choreography was second behind Choysia at Catterick last time and one of his two career wins came over this course and distance so he is worthy of respect. Mugeba ran well last time when chasing home Hansomelle, but she never looked like getting to the winenr that day and her best form is over a slightly longer trip. Bond Playboy has been a little disappointing of late but he is certainly capable of making the frame if he can recapture some of his old sparkle. A tricky start to proceedings and we will nominate Rondo to lead them home.
