Wise Dennis makes appeal at the likely odds and is selected ahead of the Godolphin pair Elusive Warning and Third Set. That is not to underrate Laa Rayb and Redford, who are closely matched on their Ascot form and should again be able to make this an interesting personal clash. Mark Johnston's charge is as tough as they come and he holds the aces in that grudge match. Third Set joined the boys in blue after a sparkling season for Roger Charlton last year. The son of Royal Applause has not been seen in public since winning a Listed race at Nad Al Sheba in February and there is a bit of guesswork involved in determining how fit he is for his UK seasonal debut. Frankie Dettori obviously rates him as the better option over Elusive Warning and a big run cannot be ruled out. The last named is a classy individual in his own right, though. So should not be underestimated. However, Wise Dennis makes a touch more appeal at the likely odds and he looks the best betting proposition for a fair return; especially now the ground has turned in his favour.
