Abstract Art can confirm his favourable first time out although Surf City and Permanex Pride should provide strong opposition. The fact that Abstract Act held a Royal Lodge entry appeared to be almost lost upon the Newmarket crowds as he was allowed to go off as a 33/1 chance on debut. He was far from disgraced behind Flight Captain on that day and granted likely improvement, he is very difficult to go against on this occasion. Surf City has already had three chances to strike gold. He certainly looks in need of a trip although whether he warrants that BHB figure of 75 is another matter entirely! Permanex Pride ran very green on his first racecourse appearance. He is sure to have improved greatly for that and would have gone close to our selection had he got a better draw. Blandford Flyer was a relatively cheap buy for the Walter Swinburn stable. The market is watched. Opera Comica is another worth a look. A half-sister to Comic Strip - who was a revelation for Sir Mark Prescott last term - if she has any of her half-brother's ability it is likely to be on a softer surface. Trafalgar Bay is interestingly bred and is watched for another day. Abstract Act has an obvious formbook chance and we seek not to oppose.
