ORCHARD SUPREME is presented with a winning opportunity today; Kingswinford and King's Caprice are likely dangers while Kieren Fallon's mount, Lockantanks, is relatively unexposed and has a feasible chance on these terms - especially with the former champion jockey in the plate. King's Caprice plummeted in the ratings over the last few years and finally exploited a lowly handicap mark when scoring at Folkestone in April. His two subsequent starts have yielded very little; although he was short of room at a crucial stage last time out. But this seems to be his grade these days and a bold effort from the nine-year-old cannot be ruled out here. Kingswinford also finds himself in the handicapping wilderness at the moment, so running in claimers is a sensible option. He is easily capable of paying his way again and the mount of Richard Hughes deserves a place on the shortlist. However, Orchard Supreme strikes as one that will really appreciate what is effectively an ease in grade for him this afternoon. Versatile regarding the ground, the Richard Hannon-trained gelding can boast an almost 1-in-5 strike rate from his career up to press and his consistency will be a vital tool against this calibre of opponent.
