A maximum turnout and a competitive contest, as you would expect for the money. Nellie Melba has been a model of consistency this summer and it would appear she is still on the upgrade following an unlucky run at Newmarket last time, but while she will be difficult to beat, a chance is taken with Gallivant, who has been somewhat disappointing since her return to action at Newmarket back in July. A half-sister to nine-furlong winner Gallant, as well as mile winner Gallant Hero, it could be that this step up in trip will bring about improvement. She has a decent draw in stall 19 and looks sure to give a good account. Nellie Melba should really be coming into this on the back of a hat-trick, having been almost put through the rails when making her challenge at Headquarters recently. However, it was not to be and as she runs off the same mark here will be a threat to all. The progressive Persian Pearl didn't have the race run to suit last time and will be more at home in this bigger field. However, she may find this company a bit too hot to handle. Gaelic Princess, who is better than she showed last time, faces no easy task for a three-year-old, while High Finance should have the sound pace she needs, but may just be a little too high in the weights. So Gallivant is the choice in the hope that this step up in trip may bring about a little improvement.
