Verdict
Not a strong heat to get the day underway at the Cumbria track and this looks a fine opportunity for Big Tom to get off the mark, despite being drawn widest of all. He hasn't been disgraced in stronger contests than this and his effort here behind Hilites is arguably the best form on offer. Parallel Lines has shown enough to suggest he has a small race in him and this stiff five-furlongs should be right up his street, However, he is beginning to look exposed and it would be a surprise if he is good enough to take care of Big Tom on these terms. Intitnice has plenty of experience, but has been beaten in sellers and the first-time blinkers will need to bring about a drastic improvement from Wendy's Girl if she is to figure. Debutante Silverhay is quite stoutly bred and may need a stiffer test, while Princes Grant, a half-brother to four winners, is from a yard that has only had one winning two-year-old from 37 runners. With Megabond looking likely to do better when he goes handicapping, this looks set to go to Big Tom, who faces his easiest task to date.
