In depth

Verdict

In an interesting nursery, we will side with Crosby Hall over, mainly, Imperial Sword, Myths And Verses and Musical Guest. While it is hard to fully assess the form of Crosby Hall's Sandown maiden win, he did look progressive there, and unless he is a betting negative, we will take a chance on him. Imperial Gold's two runs to date have come over course and distance. He finished fourth in what looked a reasonable contest on his debut (the third has won twice since) and lost his maiden status decisively 10 days later. His absence since then is a concern, but if the market is positive about him, he rates a solid mention. Given that her Doncaster conqueror, Charles Darwin, has gone on to be third in from a mark of 83 in a competitive Newmarket nursery, the grader might have erred on the generous side with Myths And Verses, and she could well appreciate this six-furlong trip better today. You could argue that she is reasonably weighted in relation to Musical Guest if working through Charles Darwin and Wovoka. Surely Truly won her maiden here, but the form rates as fairly modest, while Charlie Delta looks held for us. This is now a more realistic level for the Queen Mary eleventh Amber Glory, although others are preferred by us and her trainer says she needs some rain, while Rochdale's Goodwood win may or may not have been boosted by now by the the third Thomas A Beckett's Epsom run on Monday, but Michael Jarvis's runner has to be considered. Overall, though, we will side with Crosby Hall.
