Needwood Lad looks a useful type for Richard Fahey to go to war with and is selected ahead of his stablemate Deadly Encounter. There may be more to come from Firebet and Coleorton Choice, who are both worth noting in the betting. Coleorton Choice showed a liking for cut in the ground when finishing a close up third in a similar race at Haydock earlier in the month. The return to six furlongs will suit this son of Choisir and a big run can be anticipated. Firebet won convincingly on his debut at Carlisle before putting in a credible effort in a conditions race last time out. The handicapper has taken few chances with the son of Dubai Destination but he can be a force in this slightly weaker level. However, Needwood Blade created a favourable impression when scooting in at Newcastle 20 days ago and, as he is so obviously on an upwards curve, he gets the nod to follow up today.
