tracked leaders and keen until halfway
slowly into stride, in rear, never dangerous
soon mid-division, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, chased winner over 1f out, kept on no impression
led until ridden 2f out, weakened over 1f out
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace
chased leader, ridden to lead 2f out, hung right over 1f out, stayed on well
held up, headway to go in touch halfway, ridden over 2f out, soon weakened
Wise Melody is the selection to land the feature event of the evening. Willie Haggas's filly was reverted back to five furlongs last time when going under by the minimum margin to Monsieur Reynard. The selection was unable to withstand the finishing kick of Monsieur Reynard, who incidentally is a five furlong specialist and back up to six furlongs should suit. Course and distance winner Great Charm arrives here in fine fettle, with three successes from his last four outings. Up an aggregate of 17lb for that winning streak, it could well be that ground conditions have just dried out that bit too much for Great Charm whose best form is with some cut in the ground. La Chicaluna was twice a winner over this trip last season but connections opted to campaign her over seven furlongs since then. It appeared as if she was doing too much as she was being run out of it in the closing stages over seven and she is the likely pace setter here. Tawzeea has looked a non-stayer on both his attempts at seven but even so, he would need to improve on his effort over course and distance in April to get involved. Wise Melody can land it for the Newmarket yard of Willie Haggas.
