Spartan Prince is surely better than he showed when last of the eight runners at Beverley on his first start on turf earlier this month but David Barron's colt is hard to back with any confidence following that outing and it is hard to get away from TOPOLSKI here and he gets the vote with Hector's House rated the pick of the remainder. The selection showed improved form when stepped into handicap-company for the first time at Beverley last week, quickening inside the final furlong and going clear of his opponents. A 6lb penalty for that success should not prevent Mark Johnston's colt from following up. David Simcock's Kattar may do better now running in a handicap for the first time on his reappearance, while Citizenship struggled to reproduce the same level of form that he showed on the Polytrack when returned to turf at Leicester at the beginning of the month and he looks best watched. Omokoroa is another that is racing in a handicap for the first time on his reappearance and has to be considered but a bigger threat is likely to come from another handicap newcomer Hector's House. The Michael Dods-trained gelding ran well in all three starts as a juvenile and has to be respected on his first outing as a three-year-old. Topolski was good value for his Beverley win though and it will take a good performance by one of his rivals to get the better of Mark Johnston's runner.
