Verdict

COUNTRYWIDE ICE can land the opener at the main expense of Lady Lube Rye and Arctic Destiny. Those with racecourse experience make only limited appeal in this contest, so it could pay to side with a newcomer. Kevin Ryan's Countrywide Ice fits the bill for us, and it is worth pointing out that the trainer has a decent strike-rate with his juveniles. The stable are in decent form and although the draw could have been kinder, our selection should go well. Oondiri is another that has been done no favours by the draw, but she showed plenty of speed on her debut and she is sure to come on for the experience. Lady Lube Rye was well beaten on her racecourse bow, but she shaped with a bit more encouragement last time and she does at least appear to be going the right way. Arctic Destiny has a decent draw and like our selection, the stable do well with their 2-year-olds. There are a number of interesting newcomers here so the market will provide the clues, but we will side with Countrywide Ice as the pick.
