In depth

Verdict

Musical Mirage can beat the Channon pair Pires and Majuro, with the market best watched for the remainder. Musical Mirage caused something of a surprise when scoring at odds of 25-1 on her lest visit here, improving enormously on what she had shown on her Pontefract debut a fortnight earlier. There seemed no fluke about the success though, and she can prove that by following up here under Dean McKeown. Mick Channon had a runner back in fourth place in the above mentioned race, so he will have a line to work on, but the experienced Pires has to give weight to all and is beatable. Therefore his stablemate Majuro could be a bigger threat after his narrow Folkestone success a fortnight ago. He is bred to be effective over further next season and should be followed whatever his fate today. The winner should come from one of those mentioned, with Musical Mirage preferred.
