A chance is taken with Pee Jay's Dream, who is selected in preference to Miss Bear and Taragan, while Alani could have a bit more to offer and is worth monitoring in the betting. Alani was a surprise winner in a seller at Catterick at the start of this month and has claims if repeating the effort tonight. This is a bit tougher but the mount of Joe Fanning does not have too much to find to make the frame. Being by Kayf Tara out of a middle distance mare, Taragan should appreciate the step up in trip. However, she does need to perform a lot better than she did at Folkestone last time out and her ability to do so has to be taken on trust. Miss Bear has scope to improve and should be monitored in the betting. However, she also has a little to prove and cannot be recommended too strongly. Neither, in truth, can Pee Jay's Dream, as his will to win has been called into question on a couple of occasions. However, the son of Vettori does have the proven stamina to get the trip and make this a good test for the rest. Which makes him the stand out option to small stakes at this late stage of the day.
