Novancia has not been done any favours by the assessor, asked to concede weight all round on the back of a short head success on debut in an ordinary Carlisle maiden. She did well to win that day having looked understandably green and can only improve and this quite competitive heat will provide us with a better indication of her abilities. She could be anything at this stage. FIT THE BILL (NAP) is a more experienced and streetwise character and is taken to score here as a more solid option. The Tate gelding has proved useful on synthetic surfaces but a Windsor second to Life Less Ordinary on quick ground last month confirmed he's equally at home on the forecast conditions and that form reads well in the context of this race. Skiddaw Valleys is noted on handicap debut and both Peterhouse and Red Touch are also respected.
