        Verdict

        Calcutta has not won for some time and the top weight is difficult to back with any confidence here so preference is for Hartshead, who gets the vote ahead of Sea Storm. The selection lost little in defeat behind the well-handicapped Uhoomagoo (a winner again since) at Newcastle over seven furlongs last time and holds solid claims back over the mile trip over which he had won at Carlisle previously. Vicious Warrior disappointed on ground that was probably too soft last time and has to be respected back on today's faster ground, while a market move for Flipando would be of interest. The three-year-old Jalamid would not have an obvious chance against older rivals and of more interest may be recent Ayr winner Sea Storm, although a faster surface and 6lb higher mark leaves him with more to do. Wing Commander and Tough Love has claims on their best but Hartshead is in good form right now and is taken to resume winning ways.
