Verdict
Compton's Eleven, Rosehearty, Senor Bond and Big Bradford are all worthy of strong consideration here, but we will take a chance on the game and consistent Cop Hill Lad. The selection hails from the in-form Rod Millman yard and is due a big win after a series of creditable efforts. He finished behind Byron in a Group 2 race at Newbury last month but had previously run a cracker in a big field at Doncaster when he finished second home on the far side in the competitive St Leger Yearling Stakes. The selection rarely runs a bad race and should be good enough to take a hand in the finish, although the low draw is a concern. There are a plethora of dangers and Compton's Eleven looks to have solid claims. He finished behind Cop Hill Lad last time but had previously won at Goodwood, with Trotters Bottom the runner-up on that day. He has a plum draw here and is expected to go well. Senor Bond is well thought of by trainer Bryan Smart and could go well, but he was disappointing last time after previously showing winning form at Carlisle. Rosehearty ran well in the Cherry Hinton behind Attraction but has disappointed since and will need luck in running here because this David Loder charge likes to come from off the pace with a late surge. Big Bradford ran well with the blinkers on last time and is a big scopey horse, but he will do well to take a hand in the finish from stall 2. This is a hugely competitive race, and we expect Cop Hill Lad to go well, but the low draw is a cause for concern, so Compton's Eleven is respected as the best of the rest from the high numbers.
