There is a fairly large turnout for the opening event, but Catalini can make experience tell against Go Padero and a host of unexposed opponents. Mick Channon's juveniles seldom end the season without a win and the well-drawn Catalini is overdue one after three starts so far. A promising fifth on his Kempton debut and more recently third in a decent event at Doncaster, Catalini, in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed, sets the standard. Mark Johnston's youngsters normally need a run or two before being considered as betting material, so Go Padero enters the equation, but does have four lengths to make up on the selection. The likes of Honest Injun, Pukka and Verasi hail from powerful Southern yards, while Elusive Dream is owned by the Cheveley Park Stud and could be anything, given the record of his shrewd trainer. All in all, Catalini is the percentage call and gets the verdict.
