Verdict

The absence of Don Cossack has taken away some of the gloss though it's still the most exciting race of the meeting. CUE CARD would have given Gordon Elliott's Gold Cup winner a race had he not fallen three out at Cheltenham. He bounced back with a superb run to see off Don Poli and Djakadam in the Betfred Bowl at Aintree and it seems unlikely the placed pair can reverse the form here. The only doubt is that Colin Tizzard's star finished behind Djakadam and Road To Riches in this last year but he was in nothing like the form he's been showing this campaign and it will be a surprise if he's beaten. The latter was narrowly beaten by Smashing over 2m4f at Navan earlier this month but that proved too short and he can reverse form with the winner, who will be having his first start over the trip. Carlingford Lough and Foxrock complete the line-up and they battled out the finish of the Grade 1 Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown last February - both are capable of big runs.
