In depth

Verdict

Stoneyford Lane has a penalty for his surprise victory at Bath where he got up close home after running green for much of the way. He's likely to improve again as is Mailshot, who didn't find as much as expected at Southwell and should be better suited by this ground. Valentino Boy wasn't particularly fancied on his debut on soft ground at Nottingham but ran well enough while Melesina made an encouraging start at Beverley and will find a race when sent over further. ZUMRAN came in for very strong support on her debut at Newmarket but missed the break and was always fighting a losing battle. She is given a chance to prove that all wrong, though there are some nicely-bred newcomers on view and the market should be watched.
