Fernery can open her account against some equally promising sorts such as Night Beauty, Cantemerle, and Al Rajiba. Luca Cumani's filly has had just the two outings so far, and on both occasions has hinted that she needs to be aimed at middle-distances. A half-sister to five winners and with Shirley Heights on the dam's side, this move up to a mile and a quarter is a step in the right direction. With Kevin Darley in the plate, she can outstay the more experienced Night Beauty who flopped badly at Chepstow but should go much better on the faster ground here. Cantemerle chased home Tuning Fork on the first of her two runs at Haydock, both of which were on softish ground. She too is worth a mention, along with Al Rajiba from the in-form stable of Clive Brittain. Alec Stewart's newcomer Mofeyda is by the stable's former star Mtoto and would not have to be a world beater to win this type of event at the first time of asking, but we will stick with Fernery to bloom.
