        Verdict

        This could rest between recent winners Augustine and Donna's Double and we just favour the last named, Charlie Tango may do best of the others. Karen MClintock's eleven-year-old, despite being hampered in the straight, stayed on well to show that all his old enthusiasm remains intact when beating Desert Lightning. This was an absolute minimum trip for him and he will be even better over this mile and two. Augustine is chasing a hat-trick following victories at Bath and Beverley. A six pound penalty will slow him down but he should still be there or thereabouts. Charlie Tango returned from a two month break to finish third behind Summer Charm at Redcar, there should be more to come and he could be each-way value. Tagula Bay can also be considered for the places, but our idea of the winner is Donna's Double.

        Bethanys Boy (IRE) 9-2 (8-7) Towards rear, driven over 4f out, never dangerous, 6th of 8, 26l behind Kylkenny (9-1) at Southwell 1m 4f hcp 0-85 (4) fbs in Mar.

        Charlie Tango (IRE) 13-2 (8-11) Prominent, led 2f out, headed inside final furlong, staying on when not much room and hampered close home, 3rd of 14, 1 1/2l behind Summer Charm (9-4) at Redcar 1m 3f hcp 0-65 (6) gf.

        Melodian 20-1 (8-3) Led to halfway, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 7th of 10, 20l behind Isa'af (9-1) at Pontefract 1m 4f app hcp (5) hvy.

        Donna's Double 8-1 (9-5) Mid-division, headway over 3f out, kept on best to lead towards finish, won at Catterick 7f sll (6) gs beating Desert Lightning (9-11) by 3/4l, 16 ran.

        Archie Babe (IRE) 12-1 (9-0) Mid-division, lost place 5f out, tailed off 3f out, 13th of 18, well behind Red Sun (9-4) at Catterick 2m hcp (6) gs in May.

        Fair Spin 12-1 (9-0) Chased leaders, ridden over 3f out, weakened over 2f out, 7th of 9, 19l behind Komreyev Star (8-4) at Ayr 1m 1f hcp 0-60 (6) hvy in Oct.
