Poetic Verse has been alternating between the Flat and hurdles and his last victory came over this trip in a better handicap at Catterick in September. A couple of recent runs will have put him straight and he's on the shortlist. Jefferson City is making his handicap debut after just three runs, the latest when finishing strongly over this trip on ground faster than he would have liked at Thirsk. He's another to consider but Serenity Now has only won once in 19 starts and that was at Southwell. Injun Sands was unlucky not to win at Doncaster in June but hasn't been seen since a very moderate run at Newmarket a month later. Chant produced his best run for a while when tackling 1m6f at Musselburgh but connections won't be happy with a 3lb rise. MODERNISM was a bit inconsistent last season though usually at a higher level than this. He reappeared over a trip too short at Chester and with that under his belt and a drop in class he can gain his seventh career victory.
