chased leaders, ridden, effort 2f out, weakened over 1f out
in touch on outside, ridden, outpaced over 2f out, soon weakened
mid-division, headway halfway, lost place over 2f out, soon weakened and eased
mid-division, ridden, headway over 2f out, kept on, never nearer
behind until stayed on final 2f, never troubled leaders
slowly into stride, behind, ridden, headway over 3f out, no impression final 2f
behind until ridden, headway from over 2f out, never nearer
slowly into stride, never better than mid-division
towards rear, pushed along over 3f out, never dangerous
slowly into stride, mid-division, ridden to chase leaders over 2f out, kept on one pace final furlong
tracked leader, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace final furlong
in touch, led 3f out, ridden, hard pressed entering final furlong, held on towards finish
never better than mid-division
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, challenged entering final furlong, stayed on, just failed
led until ridden, headed 3f out, soon weakened, eased
mid-division, ridden over 2f out, soon weakened
always behind
Royal Portrait seemed not to stay the extended 1m4f at Windsor last time and John Dunlop's filly is taken to resume winning ways back over today's distance at the main expense of Donna's Double and Nakwa. The last mentioned appreciated every yard of the 12 furlongs when winning at Newcastle in May and, not surprisingly, looked in need of the run when returning here earlier this month over the same trip. He should strip fitter for the run today and is worth bearing in mind for future reference. Donna's Double has been thereabouts in recent starts and has been given a chance by the handicapper but he still seems a little high in the weights. Archie Babe, a course and distance winner earlier in the season, comes from a stable in form but would prefer a softer surface, while Storm Clear has yet to prove his effectiveness over today's trip. Face The Limelight has to be respected on the evidence of his last time out effort at Nottingham, while Top of The Class is a consistent performer who can be relied upon to run his usual good race but preference is for Royal Portrait and Pat Eddery.
