Golden Spectrum has seemed a reformed character of late but, along with recent Carlisle winner Son Of Thunder, may struggle under his 6lb penalty and preference is for Keith Reveley's Fairlie. The selection opened her account for the campaign when landing a course and distance handicap last month, driven out to beat the consistent Hula Ballew by a length. A 3lb rise for that success seems perfectly fair and the daughter of Halling is taken to follow up. Top weight Son Of Thunder ran on well when scoring at Carlisle and faces no easy task giving weight away all round, while Foolish Groom has been held off this mark in his last three starts and a place looks to be the best that his backers can hope for. Fairy Monarch is another consistent sort who is entitled to be thereabouts along with Golden Spectrum, although the last mentioned is really little better than plating class. Fairlie won well here last time though and there is no reason why she cannot go in again.
