        Verdict

Onatopp races from the same mark of 69 as when winning a Catterick maiden last month and had excuses when beaten at Thirsk last time, so Tim Easterby's charge is taken to come good again at the main expense of Poppys Rose, Best One, Flying Valentino and Fairfield Lodge. Onatopp stayed on well to land that maiden, which augurs well for this testing track, and was unlucky last time as the hood was still on when the stalls opened, costing her any chance of success. With his yard in form and a decent pitch from stall 6 he looks capable of getting back to winning ways. Poppys Rose won is a c&d scorer who beat Aussie Blue at Redcar last time. A 5lb rise is fair enough and the filly can be competitive with her allowance. Best One carries top weight and perhaps surprisingly is dropped back to this sprint trip for the first time by Clive Brittain. It remains to be seen how he'll go. Flying Valentino is getting more competitive with every pound that the assessor drops him and probably needs a further slip before winning, but can go well, while Farefield Lodge drops to a more suitable level and should finish much closer as a result, but provided they remove the hood from Onatopp, this time she can finish on top.
