Michael Dods has a good record in this race and can enjoy further success with the bang-in-form Divine Spirit, who looks capable of defying a double penalty to complete a hat-trick. The selection slammed a similar field at Nottingham last week, when romping clear inside the final furlong and while his confidence remains high we should stick with him. Ryedane represents the in-form Tim Easterby yard and has been running consitently well without a win of late. He has slipped down the weights and it would be no surprise if he came good, so he is respected. The History Man won at Beverley before costing himself much of his chance by rearing as the York stalls opened last time. Off a 3lb lower mark he comes into calculations. Dark Champion is up 5lb after being just held at Thirsk last time and will find it tough, while Paddywack and Welcome Approach should show up without winning, and the one that can prevail is Divine Spirit.
