In depth

Verdict

Plenty of options here with 17 runners and luck in running will of course play a major part. The best place to be could be the front away from traffic problems and therefore we will side with Raise The Goblet ahead of Bollin Felix and Sadler's Kingdom. The selection has a visor on for the first time this afternoon however he showed a decent enough attitude last time out despite edging slightly right late on. He showed an aptitude for slower ground on that occasion and may well have won with a clear run. He is Willie Haggas' only runner at the track today and it is doubtful whether he is just coming up for the coal-dust air. A mark of 63 shouldn't be beyond him and he gets the nod. This looks an easier race than Sadler's Kingdom contested last time out at Musselburgh and whilst he doesn't possess a turn of foot, the uphill finish at Pontefract should suit and he looks a threat if handling the different ground. Bollin Felix was held behind Sadler's Kingdom in May but he shouldn't be ruled out of calculations as there may be more improvement to come. Ja Myford ran well above expectations over course and distance eight days ago and a repeat of that run would see him reach the frame at least, whilst White Moss should be monitored for market support on this, his handicap debut. A toughie for punters, however Raise The Goblet is in good form and can get his head back in front.
