Verdict

KYBER has the ability to strike a blow for Scotland; Storm Prospect and Guerilla join Rathrockscourt on the shortlist. Jim Goldie's decent dual-performer has not been in the form of his life on the flat but he may be rejuvenated by a return to hurdles. He was a Musselburgh winner in December and then ran two good races in the Spring and off what appears to still be a winnable mark, he can win this off 105. Rathrockscourt is an interesting contender; he was well-fancied at Roscommon earlier this month but was well-held. The better ground today is probably in his favour and he has run well here before on a previous jaunt. Solway Blue was pulled up last time out when a 25/1 shot; he would only become of interest here if the market spoke in his favour, especially as the handicapper has not relented an inch. Guerilla won here earlier this month and then wasn't disgraced at Bangor as he tried to follow up off the same mark; now 10lbs higher, it would have to be almost a career best to win this at this stage of his career. Front Rank is tumbling down the weights for a string of defeats, but his recent flat runs don't offer too much encouragement, however soft ground could see him in a much better light. Storm Prospect steps up in trip following a good effort in defeat at Hexham, however this course winner still has stamina to prove, and so it is Kyber who can carry on his trainer's good course record.
