Verdict

This could be an Irish one-two, with Compton Court taken to see off Andijan, while Platin Grounds looks best of the home contingent. The top two on the racecard both line up in good form, the pair having each won their last two starts, and preference is just for Compton Court, the mount of Philip Carberry. An easy winner at Roscommon last time, the ex-Andrew Balding inmate is unbeaten in both starts over timber for his current stable, and will not mind the fast ground. Andijan has also hit winning form of late, but was all out to score at Bangor, and he might just struggle against his more progressive rival, although he does boast more experience. Platin Grounds has been rested since finding one too good here in April, but is sure to have been well galloped by his trainer who always does well on his trips up from Naunton. Nicky Richards won this last year, and saddles Palomar who also returns from a summer break. He needs to brush up his jumping to figure though, and we have no hesitation in nominating Compton Court as the answer.
