Bel Cantor, Pamir and George The Best look the most interesting trio in this large field and Bel Cantor can follow up a recent success. Pamir was third on soft ground at Chepstow three outings ago and won for the first time this year when racing prominently and holding on to win in a big field at Windsor last time. He clearly enjoys testing ground and must go well. George The Best is only four pounds higher than his last success on heavy ground at Ayr, having also won three outings ago at Hamilton. This lenient treatment from the handicapper gives him every chance particularly as the ground at Ayr was equally as testing as today's. Bel Cantor was following up some very creditable efforts on the Turf when winning decisively over the course and distance last time. He will be a popular choice amongst the locals and Bel Cantor gets the vote from us.
